What is Donald Trump changing in US?
Donald Trump, the Republican Party
nominee, gained a lot of popularity in the beginning of his candidacy for the
President. Trump, being a successful businessman and an icon was seen as a
strong contender for Presidential elections. He was also supported by many all
over the world in the beginning, but then started to 'speak'!
Donald spoke how he hates
Muslims, Indians as well as Mexicans etc. He also said he would allow less
immigration and build a "great wall" in between Mexico and America,
for which Mexicans would pay! What he meant by this was that, this wall would
stop Mexicans from entering the USA. His words also suggested he wants Muslims
to suffer and that they should be killed (as in his words “bombed”). He spoke
ill of women and how they should be treated below men. His speeches hurt many
people and also created an environment of hatred and arrogance in the US. The
strangest part was not only that, that the US Presidential candidate was
speaking such a language. But it was rather that many people supported it,
especially whites! Trump rallies were very aggressive and abused any Non-Trump
supporter very badly.
This brings us to the very basic question why is this all bad for the
US or say the world?
For this, we have to understand
what the USA stands for and what position it has in the world. One of the
answers that I got is very valid in this context is that-"To the Founding Fathers, it was about
freedom from monarchy, promoting democratic governance, and liberty as defined
in the Bill of Rights.". The meaning is very clear that it frees us
from the ties that bound us below the Kings, Czars, Zamindars etc. Those
boundaries that kept people, who were less fortunate by birth, to progress in
their lives. United States of America, being a comparatively new nation, was
blessed that it had less of these evils. It also undertook the pride that it
will not allow any of these boundations in their country so that every person
gets a fair chance to progress in his/her life. As getting a fair chance to
progress is a right by birth, of every individual and USA stood firmly in
support of it.
All other countries had problems
because they had these autocratic and monarchist rulers who would not allow the
citizens of nation to breathe freely. They would not allow democracy to flow in
and hence there were revolutions and wars to bring in democracy in these
countries. This path was not easy and many people sacrificed their lives, only
just make lives of future generations better than their own.
USA had a very fair chance to
shape it as a very different economy and give its citizens, a fruit of all
these struggles. There are more immigrants in US then its natives. So, it
belongs to nobody. As usually said, it is a land of opportunities where every
person can think of becoming Bill Gates, Opera Winfrey, and Barack Obama etc.
who do not belong to royal families, but are still somebody.
What changes now in US?
This changes the way US was
built, and it can be safely said that it will take the shape of monarchist and
autocratic rule if it stays on the same path. Because now the supporters of
Trump are displaying that they do not want to stay true to their values. They
want to blame every Muslim for terrorism which is not fair on their part. We
understand that times have changed and with groups such as ISIS coming up it
will be difficult for civil societies to stay unbiased. But these groups are
terrorist groups and whole world is prepared to fight them.
What world expects from US?
The world expects it to behave
fairly with every religion. This does not mean it should stop fighting
terrorism but involve more and more fair citizens in its fight. This means
preparing people for present circumstances and taking them into confidence.
Trump strategies would definitely not do that but would scare citizens away.
Some youths belonging to minority groups might be persuaded by their respective
strong-headed leaders, to join organizations such as ISIS, as they have been
betrayed by their own country people.
